and this website are dedicated to nature photography from various parts of the world off the beaten path, but not so remote as to require expedition-like travel to visit. We want to share our memories with you, entice you to explore your home area with an open mind ready to be surprised by its wonders, and encourage you to go to some of the farther-away places yourself and see their natural beauty and their inhabitants with your own eyes.
Most of the original photographs were taken in Western Europe and the Americas, with a few from North Africa, Southeast Asia and Pacific Islands in addition. We hope you will like some of them enough to give them a permanent place in your home, as a daily reminder of what you plan to see, have observed in the past, or simply enjoy looking at.
This gallery represents an arbitrary selection from tens of thousands of slides, and will continue to grow to include more subjects from other geographic regions. So please bookmark us and come back frequently to browse through its offerings. If you are searching for a specific topic not well represented in the present selection, send us an e-mail, and we will add it if available.
All pictures can be purchased as signed custom prints in different standard sizes up to 16x20”, larger if desired. Contact us to inquire about prices and special requests such as cropping, which we will be able to accommodate in many cases. With your print(s), you will also receive more information on the subject(s) than can be incorporated in this website. Any order will require prepayment by check; we will then print to your specifications. We also make most pictures available royalty-free for non-profit organizations; inquire about print prices and fees for commercial use.
All photographs were taken in natural environments, none in zoological or botanical gardens. The photographer does not use any color filters or other artificial means to improve on Mother Nature: If you see a purple sky or dramatic clouds, this is what it really looked like. Along the same lines, none of the pictures were digitally modified or airbrushed. Any imperfections on the thumbnails (dust, smudges, color streaks, etc.) are due to scanning flaws; your prints will not show them (nor the watermark, of course). Please also keep in mind that the low resolution rapid gallery scans usually cannot do the original justice with respect to detail, brightness and color tint.
The internal search engine is focused on the narrowest applicable term, but is less than perfect. For instance not all Cactus pictures may be included in the broader “Desert” categories, nor will a geographic area such as Midwest necessarily include all plant and animal pictures taken there. So if you don’t find what you are looking for, please browse – or contact us.
